If reports are to be believed, PlayStation was initially apprehensive regarding putting an optical disk drive in the PlayStation 4 console and wanted to make it fully digital. PlayStation 4 may not come with cell processor

The new Sony PlayStation 4 will not be containing Sony’s cell processor or any of its successors, according to some rumor the chip maker AMD would be assigned for designing the chips for PlayStation 4.
