Sony PlayStation Vita has seen low sales this week in Japan. In fact, it was the lowest sales figure the device ever went through in the country. It may be sign of how apathetic the rate of interest has become for this device, but may be this has happened because of a video game industry which has gone very dull off late. The slowdown of the American video game sales in the month of March this year by close to 25 per cent proves this phenomenon. This happened in the US even when the hit game of mammoth proportion Mass Effect 3 released in the market.
The hardware sales have been low throughout the past couple of weeks where negative statistics point the most disappointing phase for the PlayStation Vita. The PlayStation Vita sold a mere 8,931 units of hardware in the previous week in Japan. This has been the lowest figure of sales for a week since late last year when Sony launched its device in the region. The PlayStation Vita doesn’t even exist anymore in the top 20 video games titles, which are being sold in Japan currently. Sony has to prove now that a handled game console is still as much relevant in a tablet and iPhone dominated world. But the big question for Sony is how to do that.
