Gaikai gets acquired by Sony, one of the leaders in cloud gaming platforms. This is a big step taken by the company in the world of console games. There has been always a question mark when people talked about cloud gaming in future as the quality of broadband varies in different countries as well as within the countries.
It is not possible for a console maker to have all the good features in one place because there is always a gap between the users. There has always been a question regarding the bug-free, stable and reliable cloud-gaming for the game lovers.
Sony has acquired Gaikai and now the gamers are expecting something good from the Company. As of the mobile gaming question is concerned, the decision depends entirely on Sony after this acquisition. The technology will be able to have backwards-compatibility for Sony’s huge back-catalog which can be played on any of Sony’s devices. This acquisition might make the process of introducing the latest games on mobile devices a bit delayed or it may make the process faster. It could go either way. Only time will tell which way it goes.
Though Apple and Microsoft have already started with their cloud computing efforts but the market does not seems to be very encouraging. Here again the future will show us the right picture. As of now we can only celebrate the fact that two major players in the gaming market has decided to come together.
