Is a new PlayStation 3 going to be released soon?

It seems that the new PlayStation 3 is in the line. People have started speculating about it based on the document handed over to the Federal Communications Commission. FCC is an independent US government agency which controls the communications by radio, television, satellite, wire and cable.

FCC has received a written document from Sony Entertainment Limited where the names of the two new PlayStation models have been given. They are CECH 4000A and CECH 4000B.

The current model of PlayStation 3 available in the market is assigned the name CECH 3000. The change in the number in the model name indicates that there is a new model which is coming up with some more features.

Though the dimensions of the device are not specified, there are speculations that the new model will be a slimmer one. Sony has already come out in the market with a thinner PlayStation 3 but the observers and analysts expect something sleeker than that.

There is also the rumor about PlayStation 4 by Sony which is also known with the name “Orbis” and is said to have AMD’s X64 processor along with Radeon graphics. It is said to have the resolution of 4096X2160 pixels and one can play 3D games at 1080 pixels on it.
